William Anderson makes music by NurioMarayana William Anderson makes music by NurioMarayana
Dedicated to :iconwillheim:!

-----
This is "William AnderPony" making music by... I don't know exactly what he does! He does something called the My Little Pony Mind Meld which allows him to make the music we all love and adore.
He goes to the Sanctuary of Music where he enters a trance state and communes with the Grand Goddess of The Elements of Harmony. This is what this divine ritual looks like!
The magic of music flows from the orb, swirls and unravels as it gets streamed into William AnderPony himself. The magic then takes form in visions and music all around William, after which he's able to write the most beautiful scores of all.
Yes, the statue on the left is the Grand Goddess of The Elements of Harmony, NOT Rarity! Why would you honestly think otherwise?
Have you seen the color of the orb? Does that color look similar to anything else? I wonder what that means... Hmm...
-----

My fifth tablet drawing. Once again, I think I improved a bit over the previous one.
First time I drew in delicious 16:9. You can see I'm not 100% used to it from the blank space left in the picture. This is also the first and last time I am drawing at a resolution of 48 MP!
I once again adopted a new shading method. Tell me what you think!

Obviously, this drawing is based on MLP MIND MELD by *willheim, with a little imagination on my side.

This drawing is of course far from perfect, so if you have any constructive criticism, please tell me in the comments below! I am always looking for ways to improve!

Thank you, William Anderson, for everything! Keep on rockin' like you always do!

EDIT: Changed a few things on the lighting/shading, making everything just a bit more natural.

My Little Pony is copyright to Hasbro - You are allowed to share and modify this art as you please, as long as you credit me and link back to this deviation.

Thank you! It was *willheim MLP MIND MELD deviation that brought me the inspiration.

You should have used Lauren Faust's OC instead of Rarity, but this is great anyway :D
Granted it is Rarity in the original image, so it makes sense.

Exactly; it's why I chose for Rarity. =)
Also, Lauren Faust providing the music to Will... She might be the creator, but that doesn't make too much sense to me, actually.

And I believe Rarity is William's favorite Pony (with Pinkie being the second).

Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense, but when I read "Grand Goddess of the Elements of Harmony", that's the first thing I thought :P
And some people mentioned that in the comments on the EqD post, too.

Nurio, I see that there is a way to make prints available to buy thru DA. I don't know how that works, but why don't you make this available in the different sizes so I can buy it and see what that process is like. Do they frame it? I mean really, I need this in my studio! I could just print it here, but this sounds like more fun.

Wow, I am so honored you want this as a print in your studio! I have a super resolution of 48 MP here on my computer, which should be more than enough for even the largest prints.
However, I can't seem to make this a print for some reason. I'll see what exactly is wrong and make it available as a print asap. =)

I have some constructive criticism, if you'd like to hear it that is :iconfluttershyshyplz:
To me, it looks like Anderpony is fighting the statue magically. The swirling vortex is between him and the statue and his expression seems like one of extreme concentration or even pain. This makes me think that he's emitting the "magic" from his raised hoof which meets with that emitting from the orb in the Goddess's hooves. I just think it would have been clearer that he was actually getting inspiration from the statue rather than confronting it with magic if the "magic" was a continuous, unbroken stream going into him through his head, or if he didn't look pained or struggling so much. I personally associate inspiration and such with calm and control, not struggle or pain.
I hope that helped =)

Hm, well, first of all, thanks for the constructive criticism!
Yes, I can definitely see what you mean. When I made the sketch, I contemplated to draw him in a Zen-like relaxed concentration or to draw him in a more focused concentration. In the end, I opted for the latter, though I didn't have a particular reason for that. I should've read *willheim's deviation more carefully; then I would've noticed he was talking about going in a trance!
Also, I suppose I should've made the smile on his face more apparent. It looks too much like a pained expression instead of just a difficult smile.
So yes, this was an error on my part. I'll definitely think more about expressions for next time!

No, it does help. It's always helpful to know what other people think. If you hadn't given me that criticism, I probably wouldn't think more carefully about expressions next time!

It's a choice, that's all. Not one approach better than the other. There is always a choice to do things one way or another way, Malimar's thoughts are insightful, and valid, and present a solid case for another approach based more on zen trance. Which doesn't invalidate the approach you chose. Certainly the notion of an impassioned, overwrought composer drawn wholly into his expression is equally valid. I like that he had the guts to say what he thought, and that his thoughts were coming from a place of being real. And I like that you were able to see his point of view. Another man would have been defensive. This is all good stuff here.
